National Health Association

...is the successor to the American Natural Hygiene Society, and is an outgrowth of principles about physical well-being first promulgated by Isaac Jennings and Sylvester Graham in the 1830's.

Basically, these principles say that the essential health and vitality of the body does not come from drugs, procedures, herbs, supplements and so on, but rather from our basic diet and lifestyle, which either support or impede the body's own self-healing efforts. "Health-care is self-care."

Later pioneers, such as Russell Trall in the 19th and Herbert Shelton in the 20th century, emphasized that the body itself, self-generating and self-maintaining, is the only true source of healing. Very valuable.
