(This is Part 5 of a series. Go back to Part 4.)
In order for affirmations to work well it is very helpful to write them down.
Writing your affirmations down helps to solidify them, to make them more real, more present. And on a practical level, writing them down helps in keeping track of our affirmations and going over them.
The next step is to sit down and make a list. There are two good ways to do this:
The first way is to divide the list into General and Specific categories. In the General category we might put examples such as:
I love every moment of my beautiful life.
I love and accept all aspects of reality.
I am a magnet for my divine vision.
In the Specific category we might put examples such as:
I eat only foods that contribute to my health.
I go to bed at 10:30pm and sleep soundly for 8 hours.
I am a magnet for abundance and prosperity.
I have a great job that pays well and makes a contribution
My business marketing plan works wonderfully well.
The second way is to keep the General category but break the Specific category down into several parts. An example might go like this:
General
I love every moment of my beautiful life.
I love and accept all aspects of reality.
I am a magnet for my divine vision.
Relations
I take care of my divine children with great love.
I have great times and talks with my wonderful partner.
I feel peaceful and delighted when talking with anyone.
Health
I enjoy perfect health and great vitality.
I eat only foods that contribute to my health.
I get slim, trim & even more attractive.
Projects
I work at my calling and make a joyful contribution.
I get a new computer and easily learn to use it.
I enjoy serving on the beautification committee.
Abundance
I am a magnet for abundance and prosperity.
My business marketing plan works wonderfully well.
I get what I want by helping others get what they want.
It's important not to dictate to others in any way in our affirmations, because trying to limit another's freedom will cut us off from the very energy that we're trying to access.
For instance, instead of writing "Ms. Jones hires me for the job" or "Johnny becomes a better child," we can write:
I get the perfect job for me or
I become more loving and skillful with Johnny.
Notice how good affirmations are always phrased in terms of ourselves. There are two good reason for this: One, as already mentioned, because trying to dictate the behavior of others closes the door that we're trying to open.
And second, because we only ever see ourselves, projected outward as "reality." Consequently, when we break through to greater light—so does the world.
So the place to begin is always with ourselves. As our perception of reality evolves, so does reality.
