The great thing about Ram Dass has always been his humanity. Instead of speaking of enlightenment, Ram Dass speaks of his dilemmas. Instead of seeming certain, Ram Dass speaks of his uncertainties. This is his greatness. He refuses to present himself as anything but a friend on the spiritual path—one who speaks a lot of truth.
Ram Dass also has another great quality. He may be the greatest story-teller since Sheherazade. While he's imparting spiritual food to you, he's entertaining you like crazy. He has inspired an entire generation of spiritual seekers and teachers.
