I know of no-one who talks about the heart better than Sharon Salzberg. She comes from the Buddhist tradition, but her focus is on "metta"—developing loving-kindness.
She talks about generosity, compassion and sympathetic joy as medicine for the painful grasping and clinging so common to the human condition. And her words about this subject sometimes reach to the level of poetry.
Sharon Salzberg is not one for quick solutions, but rather, ones that gradually and fundamentally transform us. Her homepage is on the website of the Insight Meditation Society in Barre, MA, which she co-founded.
